Perform a "clean publish" of a site

In order to publish your site so that all deleted SAM pages are removed from the server, you can perform what's called a "clean publish" of your site. For more information about the SAM publish process, see this article.

If your site uses at least SAM 3.0 and you have Administrator permissions, go to Site > Settings, and check the box for Empty Folder on Publish and click Save.

You might want to test staging your site to be sure there aren't any errors that occur such as broken links. Then publish your site. Please note that since it clears out deleted SAM pages and files, the live site will go down for a few seconds or minutes depending how large your site is. You may wish to do this after hours to reduce any potential downtime.

Once you check the box and Save this setting, SAM will perform a clean publish each time you publish the full site. If you would only like to do this as a one-time or occasional task, simply return to this setting, uncheck the box and click Save.

NOTE: If your site uses Cloudflare to cache the live website, you will still have to wait for the cache to expire and Cloudflare to fetch the latest version of the website. If it's of an urgent nature, please send a support ticket and we can clear the cache manually for you.
