PDF not showing on the staged or live site

Question: "I uploaded a PDF and linked to it in SAM and it looks fine but then I stage or publish and it is gone. What happened?"

Answer: This most likely is happening because the PDF needs to be uploaded into the documents folder. When you upload to the "root" level folder and stage/publish, SAM doesn't copy those files to the staged/live site so that's why they don't show up.

Here's how you would fix this:

1. Edit the chunk that contains the link to your file.
2. Click on the link which will make it highlighted, then click the Insert/Edit Link button.
3. Click the General tab, then click Browse.
4. Navigate to the documents folder. If you are inside a different folder, then click the Up arrow to move up in the hierarchy.
5. Upload your file to the documents folder (or a sub folder if that is applicable to your site).
6. Once it's finished, select it from the asset browser then click Update which will replace it in your chunk with the new one.
7. Then when you stage or publish, you should be able to click the link and see your document.
