Question: "I uploaded a PDF and linked to it in SAM and it looks fine but then I stage or publish and it is gone. What happened?"
Answer: This most likely is happening because the PDF needs to be uploaded into the documents folder. When you upload to the "root" level folder and stage/publish, SAM doesn't copy those files to the staged/live site so that's why they don't show up.
Here's how you would fix this:
- Edit the chunk that contains the link to your file.
- Click on the link which will make it highlighted, then click the Insert/Edit Link button.
- Click the General tab, then click Browse.
- Navigate to the documents folder. If you are inside a different folder, then click the Up arrow to move up in the hierarchy.
- Upload your file to the documents folder (or a sub folder if that is applicable to your site).
- Once it's finished, select it from the asset browser then click Update which will replace it in your chunk with the new one.
- Then when you stage or publish, you should be able to click the link and see your document.
