Add an event page

  1. Log in to SAM and go to the Events Archive
  2. Select "Architecture" from the dropdown at the top and click "New Page"
  3. In the pop-up, enter a title and make sure you uncheck "Visible in navigation". Click "Post Content".
  4. You will now see it as the last item at the bottom of the events list. It's the one without a date. Click that link.
  5. Now we’ll need to add content to the page. To do this:
    1. Select "Content" from the drop down menu at the top. Make sure it says "content bucket" and "inline bucket".
    2. In the pop up, give the chunk a name, like "Cinco de Mayo content" or something descriptive.
    3. Click OK.
    4. Now you have a chunk and you can add your content. If you are copying text from Word or from another website, be sure to use the “Paste as Plain Text” button at the top left of the editing buttons. When you paste from one of these sources it brings over lots of unnecessary formatting that can cause problems in your layout. Once you click this button you can paste your text and add any formatting or links that you need. Then save the chunk.
  6. We will give the page a date, so that it shows up in the list of events with a date:
    1. Select "architecture" from the drop down at the top.
    2. Click on "edit page info"
    3. In the pop up, click on "edit SEO/SEM" at the bottom. Scroll down until you see "Last Modified". This is where you add the date of the event. It accepts several date formats such as 7/30/12, 7-30-12, July 30, 12.
    4. Click post content.
  7. Now you have added a date and the page will appear at roughly the top of the events archive page.
  8. Publish it if you are satisfied with the result.
  9. Please note!---- You also have to publish all the pages that you want the event to appear on, usually this means the home page, the news and events page and the events archive page.
